Emergency Evacuation
Forest fires may occur near Pinehaven. Following are recommendations if such a fire happens:
- If you spot a fire, call 911 to report it. Do not tie up the line with fire questions.
- Use good sense about clearing your cabin area to remove fuel such as firewood, deadfall or other flammable items from your property.
- Keep informed about current fire dangers. Information can be obtained from the Island Park Ranger Station, The Island Park Fire Department or the internet. Fire information will be posted around Island Park including the mailbox area in Pinehaven.
- Have an evacuation plan ready ahead of time.
- If the danger of fire in any Island Park location gets out of hand, the Sheriff's Department has a procedure in place to inform residents that they may be asked to leave their homes. Personnel will go door to door to inform residents and give instruction at that time. The department will have information concerning shelters. Pinehaven residents should leave in private vehicles where possible, and law enforcement personnel will direct traffic. The Sheriff's office should be notified of those living in Island Park who might require help in evacuating during an emergency due to medical or physical problems.
