WATER: Pinehaven has several private wells, including twelve community wells in Pinehaven and five in North Pinehaven. Most cabins are associated with a "well group" which divides the cost of maintenance and water testing in the spring and/or summer. Because there have been times when contaminated water has occurred, it is recommended that all wells be tested in early summer. Water testing kits can be obtained from Forsgren Associates in Rexburg. Check with your area "water master" on hook-up fees, annual electrical fees and contract agreements.
SEWAGE: Any new sewer system in the community must have a permit issued by the District 7 Health Department. Owners should contact the St. Anthony office to get current information. Each system should be checked to make sure there are no leaks and that the drain field is in adequate condition. District 7 recommends pumping septic systems every 2 to 5 years for full-time use. If a cabin is occupied only a few months a year and receives light use (one to two people), every 5 to 10 years should suffice. No pits or outhouses are allowed.
ELECTRICITY: Fall River Electric Company in Ashton provides electrical service to Pinehaven. Any electrical problems should be reported directly to them (208) 652-7431 or (800) 632-5726.
