SUMMER 2022 ANNUAL MEETING JULY 9, 2022, AT 8:30 A.M. AT THE PINEHAVEN COMMONS ANNUAL MEETING: Please mark your calendar for the annual meeting which will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 8:30 AM in the Commons. In the event of bad weather, alternate arrangements will be made - look for a notice at the mail box. At the meeting there will be elections of new officers. It’s fun to welcome and get to know new residents and friends. WEED ABATEMENT: We will be having weed abatement performed again this year, with the Pinehaven Association paying for spraying the entire Pinehaven property. This will avoid having everyone write small checks and minimize the bookkeeping for the county. If you don’t want your property sprayed, you will be able to opt out by signing up on a list at the mailbox. You will have to clearly mark your property boundaries if you don’t want your land sprayed. The actual spraying will be done at the time chosen by the County Weed Control Officer, usually in the late fall. The spraying is done selectively for certain weeds, and the entire area is not sprayed. ROADS: This summer we will continue to add gravel and improve the roads throughout Pinehaven. Snowplowing roads updates and input will also be addressed. DUST ABATEMENT: The Pinehaven Planning Board is paying for the dust abatement this year. SLASH PICKUP: The Board is again having Cory Larsen pick up small quantities of slash that are placed along the roadside this summer. If you cut down a tree or have a large amount of slash, please contact him directly at 208-681-7185 to arrange to have him haul it off. Although the Pinehaven Planning Board is paying for the pickup of small quantities of slash, contributions are needed and welcomed. The pickups help minimize the fire danger and keep Pinehaven looking good. Your financial support helps us put more money towards the roads. WATER SHORTAGE: As many of you are aware, there was not much snow in Island Park this winter, and this will increase the potential for forest fires this summer. Please take the necessary precautions and make sure any fires are in a firepit and are completely extinguished when you are through. In addition, there is the potential for potable water shortages. We recommend you conserve water wherever possible. BEARS: Keep all your garbage and other foods locked up so it will not attract bears, wolves, or other animals. As a reminder, in accordance with Fremont County Ordinance 95-05, you are required to avoid attracting bears to Pinehaven. You are encouraged to report any bear sightings or concerns to Idaho Fish & Game. You can call Jeremy Nicholson at 919-538-5561, or Chris Johnson at 208-390-0629. NEW CONSTRUCTION/REMODELING SUBMISSION FORM: This form is required any time you add a new building such as a shed or garage, modify an existing building, or build a fence. Contact the Building Administrator, Terry Thames, another board member, or write to the address on the top of this newsletter for the forms. We will review your submission promptly. ADDRESS CHANGES FOR NEW OWNERS: If this letter has been forwarded to a new address or you have sold your property, please advise us of the address or ownership change right away at our address in the heading. This saves the Board members time and effort and saves postage. We appreciate your cooperation. MAILBOXES: The shelves on our mailbox shelter are filling up and we are going to run out of space in the shelter. If there is a mailbox for your cabin in the shelter and the mailbox is not being used, please remove it so there will be room for others. Dogs: Please keep your dogs on a leash when walking in the neighborhood. Several residents have complained that dogs are running in their yards leaving waste, jumping on them or their children. PRIVATE PROPERTY: ATVs should not be driven over private property without the owner’s permission. There have been numerous instances of trespassing at Pinehaven. Even though the land may be vacant, the property owners do not want it marked up with tire tracks. In addition, racing the ATVs is a hazard for everyone and their pets. The County Sheriff can issue citations for this trespassing. Be sure to remind any guests that they should ride only on trails authorized by the Forest Service in the Island Park area.
